Description
The Hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) test measures your average blood sugar (glucose) levels over the past 2–3 months. It is a key tool for diagnosing and monitoring diabetes and prediabetes, as well as evaluating how well blood sugar levels are being controlled over time.
The Process
A small blood sample is collected and analyzed to measure the percentage of hemoglobin in your blood that is coated with sugar (glycated). The higher your blood sugar levels, the higher your HbA1c result will be.
