Description
Reverse T3 (rT3) is an inactive form of the thyroid hormone T3 (triiodothyronine). While Free T3 helps regulate metabolism, energy, and cellular function, Reverse T3 binds to the same receptors but does not activate them, effectively blocking the action of active thyroid hormone. Elevated rT3 levels can contribute to thyroid resistance, fatigue, weight gain, slow metabolism, and stress-related thyroid dysfunction. Measuring rT3 provides a deeper look into thyroid conversion issues that may not be detected through standard thyroid panels.
